Cuerpo divino is a toned cyanotype on handmade kozo and cotton blend paper. This piece is an ode to the Great Lakes that have provided a sanctuary space for me through its hum of rolling waves and rocky shorelines. Whose tides are controlled by mother Moon, and bear resemblance to the tides of the ocean that my father loves so dearly. This piece is heavily inspired by Japanese photographer Sugimoto Hiroshi’s seascapes. The photograph was taken using a Holga toy camera, resulting in a warped lens shift and subtle vignetting. The toning and kozo bark inclusions are meant to “age” the photograph, as if it were a water damaged photographed placed out of time.
